According to a report by the INTV (Iranian National Television) on 28 June in the seventh month of the Iraqi people’s uprising and while the sit-ins entered their 188th day on Friday, millions of Iraqis rallied against Nouri Al-Maliki and Iran’s meddling in this country. Six provinces including Baghdad, Al Anbar, Salahadin, Neinawa, Kirkuk and Diyala were scenes of massive rallies. These demonstrations were staged to express the Iraqi people’s hatred and abhorrence regarding Iran’s role in the 2006 Samarra shrine bombing and the fact that Maliki was aware of it.
The remarks of former Multi-National Forces commander in Iraq General George Casey in the Iranian Resistance’s June 22nd gathering in Villepinte near Paris and the revelation of Iran’s direct role in the 2006 Samarra shrine bombing that led to an all-out devastating sectarian war in Iraq and left hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed, was the main issue of this week’s speeches in these demonstrations.
According to Baghdad TV in the cities of
Samarra, Ramadi, Fallujah and areas affiliated to these cities millions of people took part in the Friday unity prayers and demonstrations.

The Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran stated on June 26th that removing T-walls (T shaped protective walls) from Liberty’s vicinity that started on June 22nd is still going on. Employing Iraqi army forces and resources, the Ashraf suppressive committee has loaded and removed a large number of T-walls from the area by using dozens of cranes and flatbed trucks and many other trucks during past four days. With the relocation of Ashraf residents to Liberty starting in February 2012, Iraqi forces removed 17,500 T-walls from Camp Liberty and piled them up beyond the camp’s perimeter walls despite extensive protests of residents and their representatives. These T-walls had been installed by the U.S. forces to protect the trailers inside the camp.
Following the February 9 missile attack, which resulted in 8 deaths and 100 injuries, the residents and their representatives, through hundreds of letters, meetings and phone calls to
U.S., Iraqi, and United Nations officials, demanded the return of the T-walls. However, the Iraqi government officially opposed the return of the T-walls.
NCRI added: Hasty removal of the T-walls from Liberty’s vicinity after the June 15 missile attack is indicative of ominous intention of the Iranian regime and its puppet regime in Iraq for inflicting more casualties on the residents in next attacks.
On June 24, the U.S. government announced, “given ongoing threats to the camp”, “the United States renews its call on the Government of Iraq to help ensure the security of the camp” and “this is a matter of extreme urgency”. However, all indications show that in a condition that expeditious and collective relocation of residents to third countries is not feasible, the only way to provide relative security to the residents is their return to Ashraf.
