Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance met with Mr. Ahmad Jarba, President of National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces in Paris on May 23. During the meeting, Mrs. Rajavi condemned the role of Iranian regime in the massacre and suppression of Syrian people and the mullahs' support of Bashar al-Assad. Mrs. Rajavi called for the international community's support of the Free Syrian Army and the National Coalition for Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces as the legitimate representative of Syrian people.
President Jarba praised the solidarity and fraternity of the Iranian Resistance with the Syrian revolution and said that we and Iranian people are fighting in a common front against a common enemy for the same objective. Mr. Jarba added that the ruling mullahs are devoid of any legitimacy and fate of Syrian people and the Syrian revolution are intertwined with the fate of Iranian people and its legitimate representative, i.e. the Iranian Resistance, led by Mrs. Rajavi. Mr. Jarba also condemned suppressive measures against the members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran at Camp Liberty in Iraq and called for guaranteeing their rights by the international community.
Yesterday in their weekly protest in front of the US embassy here in Ottawa, Iranian-Canadians gather to commemorate the founders of the People's Mojahedin of Iran or PMOI/ MEK who were killed by Shah's regime in 1972. They also demanded to end appeasing the Iranian regime. While they were chanting for the freedom of political prisoners in Iran, they asked Presi Obama to help freeing 7Iranian hostages- 6 of them women- who were taken by the Iraqi forces on Sep. 1, 2013 from Camp Ashraf. They also demanded the protection of Camp Liberty residence in Iraq. 


Protests continue in cities across Iran

The Iranian people from various walks of life including workers, employees and merchants continue to protest in cities across Iran against the rising unemployment, poverty, high prices and the regime's economic policies:
- The Gold merchants in cities of Esfahan and Najaf Abad(central Iran), Urumiyeh and Tabriz (northwestern Iran) launched a strike to protest the latest increase in Value Added Tax (VAT). The gold merchants in city of Najaf Abad continue their strike that began on Saturday, May 17.
- In city of
Isfahan, gold merchants and jewelry sellers in Imam Ali Square, Honar Bazaar, Imam square and other part of the city closed their shops.
The gold merchants in Urumiyeh and
Tabriz also have joined the strike in  recent days. The gold merchants believe that the VAT increase would make people less inclined to buy gold and also would make gold lose its function as a capital asset.

- Petrochemical workers in city of
Mahabad continue their strike that had begun on May 14 protesting inappropriate working conditions and non-payment of their wages.

- A group of bus drivers in the city of
Urumiyeh gathered outside the governorate office on Wednesday, May 21,  protesting an increase in fuel price and the inappropriate bus rental regulations.

- On Wednesday, May 21, a group of residents of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari  province gathered outside the office of state environment organization in city of Shahr-e-Kord to protest the construction of a water transfer tunnel which they believe causes the water to dry in wells in Ardal and Kohrang townships and consequently the unemployment of some 40,000 people.


- The contracting employees at the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization in
Tehran gathered on Tuesday, May 20, outside the regime parliament to protest the failure to renew their contracts and demand clarification on their employment status.

- A group of teachers in city of
Nahavand protested demanding a refund for the amount of money that had been deducted from their pay cheques on the pretext of insurance payment. 

- A group of residents in the city of
Marivan in Kurdistan Province gathered on Monday, May 19, protesting passage of large tanker trucks through the city. They prevented the trucks from passing through the city. Fearing the spread of protest, suppressive State Security Forces (SSF) unsuccessfully tried to disperse people.

Iranian regime’s agents round up satellite dishes in southern city
The Iranian regime’s repressive police staged raids on Wednesday and Thursday in various neighborhoods of Bandar Abbas rounding up satellite dishes.
The agents attacked people’s homes and rooftops to damage and round up satellite dishes. Bandar Abbas residents say that the regime is terrified of people watching satellite TV networks.

Over 1,800 workers lose their lives annually in Iran

The Iranian regime’s Ministry of Labour announced shocking new statistics saying around 13,000 incidents have taken place at working areas, and more than 1,800 cases have led to deaths.
According to the state-run ILNA news agency a department of this ministry said incidents taking place in working areas each year cost more than 300 billion rials (around $12.3 million) of damages. Due to this decrease in work force security and investment, more than 90% of work contracts signed last year were temporary.

Iran: man executed in Evin to cover up for main thieves of massive 30 trillion rial theft case

According to state-run media outlets Mah-Afarid Amir Khosravi, one of the suspects in the famous bank fraud case known as the 30 trillion rial case (then worth around $2.6B), was executed early Saturday morning.
According to IRNA, Mahafarid Amir Khosravi's execution was carried out early Saturday morning 
May 24, 2014, in Evin Prison charged with ‘corruption on Earth’ through disrupting the country’s economic structure”.
“500 people are suspects in the 30 trillion rial case,” said Dehghani, a member of
Iran’s Majlis (parliament), on May 22nd. “Who in the senior government were behind this huge theft? One person alone cannot enter the government and commit this much corruption. There were people who supported them from inside the government", Dehghani said.

IRGC extorting Iranians to round up money for Syria’s Assad

According to reports received by the Iranian resistance, from inside Iran, the Revolutionary Guards issued a statement in the city of Hamedan under the pretext of supporting the Syrian people, revealing the regime’s intention to extort the people of this city. The IRGC says it has allocated a bank account and is asking people to deposit money on a monthly basis. 

Iranian regime intensifies suppression of women and youth

The regime in Iran warns of plans to further clamp down on
women and youth on the pretext of having ‘norm-breaking behaviour.’
The Iranian regime's Deputy Chief of Police, Brigadier-General Ahmad-Reza Radan, announced on Tuesday the plans to implement for stricter "moral security plan" to suppress women and youth. He said in an interview that, “some have felt that something has changed and on their websites they have been publishing some false news and quotations. They will see that the police is on the job”.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commander of the State Security Forces has announced that millions of official warnings they’ve handed out to those who he called as "norm-breakers". Speaking in a meeting with state representatives from various state institutions on women dress code Montazer Almehdi said: "last year, written commitments were obtained from 207,053 persons. Furthermore, 18,081 were referred to judicial authorities”.
He also announced that up to 2,917,000 people had been officially warned for breaking the norms. plan was introduced as a measure to control the populace in 2007. The plan gave the regime the pretext of arresting people based on ‘bad and inappropriate veiling’.

 A group of 10 prisoners hanged in Kerman

According to Fars state-run News agency the Iranian regime's judiciary in Kerman province said on Saturday that ten prisoner s have been hanged in the main prison in southern city of Kerman. Those hanged had been accused of drug smuggling. The prisoners were identified by their initials.
- The Iranian regime hanged two inmates in Bandar Abbas Central Prison, located in southern Iran. The authorities had banned all commuting to this prison and even recess and communications were cancelled for the inmates. The names of these victims have yet to be announced.
More than 700 have been executed in Iran during 2013, two thirds of which occurred during Hassan Rouhani’s tenure.
