Canada continues to list the Iranian regime as state sponsor of terrorism

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird who visited Iraq unannounced on Wednesday declared that Canada would stand by the people of Iraq but rejected improving relations with the Iranian regime for countering ISIS.
According to Ottawa Citizen, “Baird was unwilling to cut neighboring
Iran any slack, despite that country’s stated opposition to ISIL’s advance and recent signals that it’s willing to work with the U.S. and its allies. Canada still lists Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism,” the report said.
Baird said, “Obviously we have a very different view when it comes to the government of Tehran". He added: "The Iranian regime “could suspend its considerable support to terrorist organizations not just around the region, but around the world".
Baird also urged the Iraqi leadership to come together and govern for all Iraqis, regardless of religious or ethnic background. “We want to be able to see the government here stand on its two feet and fight terrorism,” he said.
In another news John Baird released a statement on Monday on Solidarity with Iranian prisoners. He writes: "Canada remains deeply concerned by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to use the courts and prison system as tools of repression. Hundreds of people are currently imprisoned in Iran simply for peacefully exercising their fundamental rights to freedom of speech, assembly and association. "These teachers, lawyers, artists, writers, students, scientists and leaders have not only been deprived of their freedom, they are also systematically abused by Iranian officials and subjected to violent attack, torture, rape and threats against their loved ones. Others are simply executed. "Iranian officials deny holding political prisoners, but these brave men and women are not unknown and they will not be forgotten. Canada offers its sincere condolences to those who have lost family or friends to Iran’s security apparatus and calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience.”

The Iranian Resistance called for saving the lives of seven political prisoners on hunger strike, especially Mr. Karim Moussazadeh who is on hunger strike since the first week of Aug. and urged all international bodies and human rights organs to take effective measures to save their lives and to look into their demands. Karim Moussazadeh, 33, is a Kurdish political prisoner sent to Bandar Abbas on exile and he has gone on a hunger strike since August 9 to protest the conditions in exile and the anti-human actions of the torturers, including deprivation of medical care. Meanwhile, three other political prisoners: Khaled Hardani, Farhang and Shahram Pour-Mansouri who have been on hunger strike since August 30 are suffering from feebleness, hypotension and headaches. They are protesting intolerable pressures imposed on them by the prison torturers. On August 30, Bahraini, head of the Intelligence Ministry in Gohardasht Prison and one of the most vicious elements of regime’s intelligence, intended to deceive these three prisoners in order to transfer them to an unknown location, but with the solidarity of their cellmates, they refused to go.
Khaled Hardani suffers from acute digestive problem and since he's denied medical care for a long time, his condition has deteriorated. Presently, the interrogators of the intelligence ministry intend to transfer him to an unknown location to increase the pressures on him.

Iran: Pastor Behnam Irani faces 18 new charges

Iranian pastor Behnam Irani is being held in solitary confinement and is facing 18 new charges, including “Mofsed-e-filarz” or “spreading corruption on Earth”, which is a capital crime under the laws of the clerical regime.
The fresh charges appear to be part of a surge in repression under the Hassan Rouhani's presidency targeting religious and ethnic minorities, Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) reports.
CSW’s Chief Executive Mervyn Thomas said, “We are deeply concerned by the new charges against Pastor Irani, especially the charge of spreading corruption on Earth, which bears unsettling similarities to the one faced by Pastor Matthias. Such charges are tantamount to an indictment of Christianity itself and mark a renewed escalation in
Iran’s campaign against Persian Christians under the Rouhani presidency.” Pastor Irani was initially arrested in December 2006, and sentenced in 2011 to six years imprisonment for “action against the state” and “action against the order.”
