The Tehran Province criminal court on Thursday sentenced two men Taghi 30 and Parviz 31 years old, accused of theft to have their fingers amputated. “I was forced to resort to stealing to come up with money for my wife’s chemotherapy,” one of the accused said.

According to state-run Rokna news agency June 2nd, a young mother of six, is on the verge of execution in Iran. The 27 year old mother of 6 was married at age 15, and was arrested along with her one month-old infant on the road to Sistan & Baluchistan Province in southeastern Iran and transferred to a prison in Mashhad on the charge of carrying narcotics.
About her prison condition, she says, “Since I had a breastfed infant, I took her with me to prison. Recently, she got sick. I was worried about her so I called my old mother and asked her to come and take her. Now, I’m left without my children... The nightmare of death, does not let me sleep even for a moment.” The young woman's identity has not been published in the state-run media.

Security forces paraded a young man in the streets of Marivan, Iranian Kurdistan, while covering his head with a women’s shawl. The disgusting punishment sparked a wave of outrage among the public who saw this not only as inhuman humiliation of a young man, but as humiliation of all Iranian women who are forced to wear the hijab and cover their head and hair.

A day after the Interior Ministry spokesman stepped back from inspection of public and private sector offices and agencies for women’s veiling and hijab, a new calendar was published according to which the conduct of hospitals is going to be inspected with regards to Hijab.
State-run Mashregh website reported on June 1st that, According to this calendar issued to Governor Offices across the country, inspection teams have been scrutinizing the operations of various systems in terms of citizens’ rights and in terms of chastity and the veil. The calendar has been scheduled from the beginning of Ramadan on May 27, 2017.
The list contains the names of public and private hospitals which will be visited by inspection teams on July 1, 2017. The inspections are going to take place according to the 9 plans of the Citizens’ Rights program and the 10 programs dealing with chastity and the veil, and violators will be dealt with.

Based on a report by the state-run Borna news agency May 31, the head of the Prison Organization said that 10,000 spouses had filed for divorce because their families’ breadwinners were jailed.
Asghar Jahangir Iran's head of Prison organizations added, “2500 children of prisoners were identified last year, who were exposed to drug addiction… 700 children of prisoners had also dropped out of school.” “According to statistics, 22 percent of prisoners do not have visitors… When prison terms get lengthy, visits drop,” Jahangir added.

State-run Isna reported on May 31 that Members of the Iranian parliament, or Majlis, voted on Wednesday, May 31, for the election of a new board of directors. The vote outcome did not bring about much change in the make-up of the board, except exclusion of the only woman and the single Sunni deputy on this board, Farideh Oladghobad and Mohammad Ghasim Othmani, respectively.

Iranian regime's State Security Force’s Traffic Police announced that it is a crime to drop one’s veil or eat and drink in one’s own car during the month of Ramadan and warned violators against being arrested and handed over to the Judiciary.
Tuesday, May 30, 2017, commander of the Traffic Police, Taghi Mehri said, “It is true that one’s car is a one’s personal limits, but it is not like one’s home.”
He added, “Those who drop their veils or eat and drink during the month of Ramadan, are going to be arrested by the Traffic Police and instantly turned in to the Judiciary apparatus. They would be issued verdicts according to the spirit of the law.”

Hanna Khorsan, a cultural activist, was summoned on Tuesday, May 30, by the Intelligence Department of Ahwaz, capital of the southwestern province of Khuzistan in Iran. Hanna, 35, is the manager of a cultural group called Nowares which is scheduled to hold and film the Gergeean ceremony, a traditional ritual among Arabs in Khuzistan.

World leaders have condemned Saturday's London terror attack on the famous London Bridge which left seven people dead and 50 injured. 3 perpetrators were shot by police. British Prime Minister Theresa May has described the London terror attack, as part of a new trend of terrorism, saying "the single evil ideology of Islamist extremism" needs to be defeated.

United Press International reported on May 31st, At least 65 people
were killed and 325 injured Wednesday when a car bomb exploded during morning rush hour in Kabul's diplomatic district, the Afghanistan health ministry said.
Police said the blast, described as 'one of the biggest' to hit the Afghan capital, occurred in Zanbaq Square, close to many government offices and foreign embassies.

Al Arabiya reported on June 3rd, that Amnesty International has condemned a travel ban imposed by Iranian authorities on Dr. Mohammad Maleki, former president of Tehran University, currently considered as one of the most famous human rights defenders inside Iran.
The 84-year-old human rights activist is banned from leaving Iran to visit his children in the Netherlands and Canada, where authorities have imposed a travel ban since 2011 in retaliation for his peaceful human rights activities, the London-based organization said in a statement.
The organization also confirmed that he wants to be treated abroad, as he is suffering from several serious health problems, including heart disease, diabetes and prostate cancer.
