While the Iranian regime sets 13 as the legal age of marriage for girls, Saeed Golestani admitted, “12 years is the age of childish plays not an age for having a husband and raising children. Family traditions, however, have made such marriages a common practice, creating problems for children.” (The official IRNA news agency – May 29, 2019) It should be noted that the proposal for increasing the minimum age of marriage for girls which currently is 13, was voted down by the regime’s parliament last November.

Male security guards entered female footabllers locker room, using verbal and physical violence against the players and their head coach in the course of a women’s football match in Shiraz-Iran. During the football match between Zagros of Shiraz and Gas Refinery of Ilam which took place in the Pars stadium of Shiraz on May 25, one of the female footballers of the team from Ilam, was verbally assailed and subsequently punched in the stomach by a male security guard as she was entering the locker room. According to  “FootLady” website which reports on Iranian women’s football and futsal, Sarina Farajollahi was hurt so badly that she had to be taken to hospital.
The head coach of Ilam’s football team, Fatemeh Hayati, reacted by trying to push the guard out of the locker room, but she was also punched in the chest and thrown to the ground. Another female footballer, Neda Azizpour, tried to record the scene by filming it, but her mobile was snatched away from her by another male security guard.  (The state-run ISNA news agency – May 28, 2019)
The women’s football team of Ilam submitted the relevant documents on the physical assault on Sarina Farajollahi to the Football Federation of Iran.
Security guards are not allowed to deal with athletes and physically punish them. In the meantime, no one has accounted on why the male security guards had entered the locker room, while even fathers and husbands of female footballers are not allowed in the stadium.
The clerical regime does not respect female athletes and does not support their activities. While according to the rules of the misogynous clerical regime, no men are allowed inside the stadium when women are playing, male agents are green lighted to brutalize women under various pretexts.

The legal and security officials of the Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz have prevented dispatch of political prisoner Ameneh Zahersari to hospital. The political prisoner Ameneh Zahersari, 20 and a graduate of accounting, is incarcerated in the Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz after her brother and father were arrested in November 6, 2018.
She has been suffering from acute swelling of various parts of her body. The physician of the prison’s dispensary has not been able to diagnose the reason for the acute swelling and illness of Ameneh Zahersari and she must be dispatched to hospital as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment.
Ms. Zahersari’s family have managed to receive a 300-million-toman bail bond from the 12th interrogation branch of the Court of Ahvaz to facilitate her transfer to hospital, but the legal and security officials in Sepidar Prison have been preventing the transfer of this political prisoner to hospital.
The family says, “Her health condition is deteriorating every day and she needs to receive emergency care and medical treatment in hospital.”
Political prisoner Ameneh Zahersari was arrested on November 6, 2018, one day after her father and brother were apprehended by the Intelligence Department of Ahvaz. The 12th Inspection Branch of the Court of Ahvaz has set a 300-million-toman bail for this political prisoner but prison officials have so far refrained from releasing her.
Denial of medical treatment to political prisoners is one of the most common methods the Iranian regime uses to bring double pressure on political prisoners.
Kurdish political prisoner Zeinab Jalalian, who has a life sentence in the Prison of Khoy, has been suffering from various diseases and illness for a long time. However, she has been denied from receiving medical treatment despite deterioration of her health condition, specially her eyes. Prison officials are in this way putting pressure on her to force her into making false confessions. In a call for urgent action on June 15, 2018, Amnesty International said Zeinab Jalalian is being subjected to torture by blocking her access to medical care.
