According to reliable sources, political prisoners in Qarchak are experiencing tremendous difficulty to a lack of hot water in the bone-chilling winter cold. In addition, the water pressure is very low. Qarchak Prison authorities shut off the rest of the wards for only half an hour every few days to supply some lukewarm water to the political prisoners in Qarchak. The lack of hot water in the cold winter weather has caused various diseases among women prisoners. The health condition in this prison is reported to be very poor. Marzieh Farsi, a political prisoner in Qarchak, has suffered from rheumatism due to poor prison conditions and the cold and has been denied medical care. Under the pressure of the Ministry of Intelligence, Farangis Mazloum the former political prisoner Soheil Arabai's mother, went to Evin Prison on February 1, to serve her sentence. However, the prison authorities refused to accept her due to her severe physical condition. Farangis Mazloum has severe legs, eyes, heart, and blood pressure problems. She cannot even walk. Forces of the Department of Intelligence of Saqqez-Iran arrested eight Kurdish civil activists, including a woman. The violent arbitrary arrests took place on January 29. The intelligence forces raided the residence of Zamaneh Zivieh and arrested her on the said date. According to an informed source, Zamaneh Zivieh is 29 and the mother of a young child. Tens of thousands of Teachers demonstrated for the third day in a row in protest of their unbearable living conditions, low salaries, and disregard for their demands in 120 cities in Iran on Monday, January 31. Another primary demand of the teachers’ demonstrations was the release of imprisoned teachers. They said that as previously announced, we will continue our sit-ins from February 12 to 17.
