Iran’s nationwide uprising marked its 213th day on Sunday April 16, 2023. The uprising has spread in 282 cities across Iran with 750 people dead and 30,000 detainees. The names and identities of 675 people killed by the regime have been announced by the Iranian opposition PMOI/MEK, People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran.

On Thursday, April 13, Massoumeh Ahmadi, the fiancée of Hamed Salahshour, who was killed during the Iran uprising in Izeh, was arrested by security forces. Massoumeh Ahmadi was detained while returning from a ceremony for Reza Shariati, a 21-year-old youth killed by security forces. Hamed Salahshour was arrested on November 27, 2022, by IRGC intelligence forces while traveling from Isfahan to his hometown of Izeh. He was tortured to death in the IRGC detention center. 

Arghavan Fallahi and her father and brother are still being detained in an uncertain status at Evin prison. Arghavan, who is 22 years old, was arrested on November 4, 2022, during the Iran uprising in Shiraz and was transferred to Evin prison on February 12. Two interrogation sessions have been held for this family at the 6th investigation branch of Evin, but their indictment has not yet been issued. They face charges such as “waging war on God,” “corruption on earth through widespread action against the state,” and “assembly and collusion to commit a crime.”

Sara Nasseri, a 41-year-old woman from Mashhad, was arrested on December 6, 2022, by security forces during the Iran uprising. After 20 days, Sara Nasseri was transferred from the detention center of Mashhad’s Intelligence Department to Vakilabad Prison. Four months later, she is still held in an undecided state in Mashhad.

Rada Fatehi received a summons on April 13, 2023, to appear before the Criminal Court of Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province. Rada is the sister of Ramin Fatehi, who was arrested during the uprising in Sanandaj and killed under torture. On Saturday, April 15, families of poisoned students in Shahin-Shahr took to the streets to protest the poisoning of their children. The protest, held in front of the city’s Education Department, was met with repression, as security forces attacked the demonstrators and fired tear gas. The families chanted slogans such as “Death to the child-killing regime,” “Death to the dictator,” and “Death to the perpetrators of poisoning,” while also declaring that they would not accept humiliation. Sadly, the situation is not isolated to Shahin-Shahr. At least eight regional schools and conservatories have been attacked by chemical agents and toxic gas, including Manouchehr Ansari Girls’ School, Al-e Yassin Girls’ Conservatory, and Fahmideh Elementary School. Moreover, students from several schools in Izeh, Sanandaj, Urmia, and Mahabad were poisoned, with dozens taken to medical centers on April 15. Additionally, security services have been pressuring students to falsely confess to poisoning their classmates. Three young women, Setayesh Darugheh, 16, Erfaneh Honar, 19, and Setayesh Amiri, 17, have been arrested and pressured to confess that they were involved in the poisoning of schools in Larestan, Fars Province. https://tinyurl.com/v4dukh8t

On Thursday, April 13, Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee was sentenced to 6 years in prison for “assembly and collusion” and one year for “propaganda against the state” in the 26th branch of the Iranian regime's Revolutionary Court of Tehran. The sentence implemented for her will be six years. She was also sentenced to a 2-year ban on staying in her hometown Tehran, and a 2-year ban on attending political parties and groups. Zhina Modarres Gorji, a journalist and women’s rights activist from Sanandaj was arrested for the second time on April 10 by intelligence forces. The exact reasons for her arrest and charges against Ms. Modarres Gorji remain unknown.

Zeinab Zaman was detained by the Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence forces on Saturday, April 8, and transferred to an unknown location. Her husband, Arman Soheili, said they visited the Revolutionary Guards’ Niyayesh District office on Saturday, April 8, at 10 am. After waiting 30 minutes, he was informed that Zeinab had been taken to inspect their residence. He added: “After searching our house and checking my phone, they seized Zeinab’s phone and other electronic items and said she was detained on the order of the Tehran Revolutionary Prosecutor.”

Security forces summoned and arrested Parya Karim Adnani during the nationwide protests in 2022. She was temporarily released on bail until the end of the trial after being interrogated. Ms. Adnani, 36 years old and a resident of Saqqez, has been sentenced to four months in prison and 18 lashes by the Saqqez Criminal Court’s Branch 105 on charges of “propaganda against the state” and promoting Kurdish parties on social media. https://tinyurl.com/3ve9meav
