In a significant move, the Canadian Parliament on Wednesday May 8, overwhelmingly voted in favor of designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, with a resounding 327 votes in favor. The approval of this measure marks a renewed effort by Canadian MPs to officially recognize the IRGC as a terrorist entity, following previous unsuccessful attempts. Notably, every member of the Canadian House of Commons supported the motion, highlighting the bipartisan consensus on the issue. 6 years ago in 2018, another motion was introduced to the Parliament to designate the IRGC as a terrorist entity which to this day, the government has not fulfilled it's obligation. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the president-elect of the NCRI- National Council of Resistance of Iran congratulated the Canadian MPs for the adoption of the terrorist designation of IRGC, adding: I hope that the government of Canada would implement the long-overdue legislation by the parliament, and officially blacklist this criminal corps. She said: I urge the European Union and its member states to stop further postponing the implementation of the terrorist designation of the IRGC as adopted by the European Parliament.

The Hijab Remains an Excuse for the Iranian Regime to Control, Suppress Dissent and Sustain Power. The Repressive Hijab Crackdown Continues, with the State Security Force Linking all CCTV Cameras in Iranian cities and towns. A member of the regime's parliament Amirhossein Bankipour has declared that all CCTV cameras in both government and private offices will be linked to the State Security Force (SSF). This move aims to facilitate the thorough identification of women who remove their hijab in public spaces. During a speech covered by the state-run media, Amirhossein Bankipour stated: “Our cultural solution in this bill is long-term, while our economic solutions serve as mid-term auxiliary measures. We have categorized the punishments accordingly. The lowest tier of punishment involves fining passers-by and individuals who remove their hijab in virtual spaces. https://tinyurl.com/3mx32paf

After the Iranian regime failed to enforce the mandatory Hijab by the massive deployment of Guidance patrols and plainclothes agents in the streets and through violent and arbitrary arrests of women and girls, it's adopting new measures, while the Hijab and Chastity bill has not yet become a law. Recent reports from state-run media indicate that the head of the Food and Drug Organization, affiliated with the Ministry of Health, has emphasized the role of mandatory hijab in determining pharmacy quotas. This new approach aims to link compliance with hijab norms to the allocation of pharmacy licenses. According to Haidar Mohammadi, who spoke at the presidential communication center on May 5, pharmacies will be evaluated based on their adherence to hijab requirements. Non-compliance with mandatory hijab is considered an “abnormality,” and directly impacts the quota assigned to each pharmacy. Haidar Mohammadi said, “If a pharmacy does not comply with the norms, initially, it will be warned. If the warning has no effect, preventive measures will be implemented against the offending pharmacy. If the preventive measures are ineffective, the violators will be introduced to the legal authorities. https://tinyurl.com/49xahkc6

The Disciplinary Appeals Committee sentenced Afarin Najafizadeh, a mechanical engineering student at Tehran’s University of Science and Technology in Iran to a half-year suspension from the university. “The case was filed one day after I participated in the Student’s Day press conference and after reports were written by Sharq, Etemad, Emtedad, Ensaf dailies, among others, on December 5, 2022,” Afarin wrote in a social media post. She added: “In the three cases for which I was summoned to the disciplinary committee, the university’s security department repeatedly referred to my ‘establishing the working group to defend the rights of the University of Science and Technology students’ as a prelude to their complaint, and this time as a hypothetical violation, they also referred to an interview I had last year with the Ham-Mihan newspaper, as the secretary of the suspended (student) association.”
According to other reports, suspended student Motahareh Gouneii was transferred to the women’s ward of Tehran’s Evin Prison following her arrest. Motahareh, a suspended Tehran University dental student and the former political secretary of Tehran University’s Islamic Student Association, was arrested and transferred to Evin prison on Wednesday, May 1, after being summoned via phone by the IRGC intelligence Department. There is still no information on why she is being charged. Three days ago, Ms. Gouneii, together with another student activist, held a sit-in outside Tehran’s Music House for a few hours to protest the death sentence for rapper Toomaj Salehi. She has been under pressure by security agencies since the sit-in. Motahareh said she was summoned by the IRGC’s Sarullah Corps, who were posing as the Public Places’ Police. Before this, Motahareh Gouneii was expelled from Tehran University and prohibited from studying at any institution for the next five years. https://tinyurl.com/ys5zdb4y
