On Tuesday, September 30, groups of teachers and candidates for the Ministry of Education’s recruitment exam, gathered in front of the ministry building in Tehran capital of Iran. As in many recent social protests, women stood at the forefront, raising their voices against systemic discrimination. The street turned into a platform for dissent, echoing with the central slogan: “We saw no justice, we only heard lies.” Protesters accused the authorities of incompetence and institutionalized discrimination. At the same time, healthcare workers in Tabriz also staged demonstrations. Female nurses and medical staff comprised a significant portion of the protesters, who denounced meager wages and worsening living conditions. They stressed that the government’s neglect of professional rights and livelihood concerns has imposed unbearable pressure on healthcare personnel, making the situation unsustainable. https://tinyurl.com/4u8k7bzt

On Wednesday, September 30, thirty political prisoners held in Tehran’s Evin Prison, issued a joint statement condemning the “inhuman conditions” faced by female political prisoners in Qarchak Prison, Varamin in Iran. The signatories held the death of political prisoner Somayeh Rashidi directly accountable to the negligence and incompetence of the Iranian judiciary and prison authorities, demanding the immediate transfer of female political prisoners back from Qarchak to Evin. The statement stressed that the “recurring deaths inside Iranian prisons” are the result of structural dysfunction, lack of independent oversight, and the deliberate denial of the most basic rights of prisoners—a pattern, they warned, that will persist until fundamental reforms in prison policies are enacted. Simultaneously a number of political prisoners in Evin Prison protested and demanded for the return of female prisoners from Qarchak Prison.
