The
jubilation of the soccer fans in Ahwaz transformed to anti regime slogans
Based
on Al Arabiya website a video is shown that the young people of Ahwaz, after the
announcement of the winning team Foolad Khuzestan, spontaneously gathered on
Friday to march on the streets and chanted slogans against the regime. Most
slogans were chanted in Arabic protesting against the Iranian regime and its
President Hassan Rohani. They were chanting الشعب یرید اسقاط النظام which means: People want the overthrow of the regime. There are
reports that the youth clashed with the regime's forces in Ahvaz.

Arabs arrested in waves in Ahvaz and Shadegan
A wave
of arrests is continuing by the Iranian regime against Iranian Arab youths in
the cities of Ahvaz and Shadegan. According to
reports on Saturday, April 5th, the regime’s MOIS Ministry of
Intelligence and security agents arrested 13 youths in Shadegan
on charges of actions against national security. Those arrested were
transferred to Nawa prison in the town of Mahshahr.
From Saturday, April 5th, to Monday, the 8th, a number of Ahvaz youths were also arrested by MOIS agents in Khuzestan and transferred to various prisons. In one case 31 Ahvaz residents were apprehended and transferred to Karoon Prison. Furthermore, in the Khalaf Abad region 14 local residents were detained and transferred to Ahvaz’ Sepidar Prison. Recently 9 residents of the southwestern Iranian city of Abadan were transferred to site 2 of Karoon Prison, facing security charges and propaganda against the state.

Parliamentary delegation cancels Iran trip, official says
According
to the Iranian state-run Tabnak website affiliated to former IRGC (Islamic
Revolutionary gurard corps) commander Mohsen Rezaei, a delegation from
the Netherlands Parliament has cancelled its planned visit to Iran.
This source posted an article entitled ‘Behind the scenes of Dutch delegation cancelling Iran visit’, saying “Iranian Majlis (parliament) Security Commission chairman said in a meeting two days ago with the Dutch ambassador they were informed if this delegation intends to meet with any of the Islamic republic dissidents in any Western embassies in Tehran this trip should not take place. Our red lines must be respected by all our foreign guests,” he said. On April 3rd the European Parliament passed a resolution against the Iranian regime and its human rights records. In this resolution it's emphasized that Human Rights in Iran, is part of a policy framework for future bilateral relations between Europe and Iran and each parliamentary delegation that travels to Iran must have access to political opposition, civil society activists and political prisoners.

Resistance demands UN action to save jailed political hunger striker
The
Iranian Resistance called on the United Nations and human rights groups on
April 8, to take urgent action to save the life of a critically ill labour
activist on the 30th day of a hunger strike jailed for his opposition to the
theocratic regime.
Shahrokh Zamani, 49, was arrested in June 2011 in city of Tabriz, north western Iran, and was sentenced to 11 years in prison on charges of ’propaganda against the system’ and creating an opposition group.
Mr. Zamani was then transferred from Gohardasht prison to Ghezel Hesar prison, on March 8 where dangerous prisoners are held.
In a message from Ghezel Hesar, Mr Zamani - a member of Painters Union in Iran - had called for an international labour campaign against repression in Iran.
He has been repeatedly tortured over the past two years, and moved between prisons in Yazd, Gohardasht, Tabriz and Ghezel Hesar.
A number of Gohardasht political prisoners also went on hunger strike on April 7 and 8 in solidarity with Mr. Zamani, calling for unconditional and immediate return of their former cell mate to Gohardasht prison.

Jim Flaherty
Canada's former finance minister died
on April 10, 2014 just 3 weeks after resigning
from cabinet, citing a desire to move to the private sector. Paramedics rushed
to Flaherty’s downtown Ottawa condominium. Flaherty was
declared dead shortly after. The news reached Members of Parliaments just as
they were gathering in the House of Commons for question period, which was
suspended. The flag on the Peace Tower at Parliament Hill continues
to fly at half-mast, as does the flag at the Ontario legislature. Mr. Flaherty left
behind a wife and triplet boys. A state funeral will be held for Jim Flaherty
on Wednesday in Toronto. In a statement Friday afternoon,
Prime Minister Stephen Harper called Flaherty "an extraordinary Minister
of Finance who sacrificed an enormous amount in his years of service to Canada and to Canadians.
A
Canadian finance minister has not received a state funeral since the 1930s. Jim
Flaherty was 64 years old.
