Shaghayegh Khademi, 23 years old, was abducted at 4 a.m. on September 21, 2022, when security forces attacked her home. She was detained in Ward 209 of Evin Prison before October 15 when a fire broke out in the prison. After that, she was transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin. According to the verdict recently issued by Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, Ms. Shaghayegh Khademi has been sentenced to 16 years in prison. https://tinyurl.com/3ut2vk4r

The Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Pari Aghaii, the accountant of a non-profit school, to 12 years in prison, a ban on leaving the country, and other social deprivations. Pari Aghaii, 49, was arrested by the security forces on October 16, 2022, and was released from Qarchak prison on December 19 after posting bail. Fatemeh and Golnaz Beigpour were arrested on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, and after a month in prison, they were conditionally released on bail. Dr. Afsaneh Sadat Modabber was arrested at her workplace on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Three male and one female agent entered her workplace, a drug addiction clinic, with fake documents. The agents introduced themselves as representatives from the anti-narcotics headquarters. After they arrested Dr. Afsaneh Sadat Modabber, they took CCTV footage of the clinic with them. Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chair of the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), strongly condemned the arbitrary arrest of Iranian actress Mrs. Taraneh Alidousti and other artists and professionals of the 7th art by the Iranian regime. Ms. Chitsaz called for the immediate release of all prisoners of the uprising, especially women and artists. Ms. Chitsaz called on human rights and women’s rights organizations to take urgent action.

The Iranian regime continues to issue flogging and prison sentences for some women arrested during the protests. Some 50 days into her arrest, Elham Modarresi is still detained under an uncertain status. Elham Modarresi, 32 and a painter from Sanandaj, suffers from various illnesses. Elham Modarresi is reportedly psychologically tortured in prison. To break and force her to confess, the interrogators lied to her, saying that her brother, who had just undergone a liver transplant, was tortured in the adjacent room and that her mother had died.
