Nearly 4 months after the arrest of Ayda Najaflou — a Christian convert and mother of two — she remains in legal limbo in the security ward of Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison in Iran. Security and judicial authorities have not only failed to provide a clear explanation for her charges, but they have also effectively blocked her temporary release by setting an exorbitantly high bail. Before her arrest, Ayda underwent spinal disc surgery and has been battling chronic back problems. Yet during her detention, she has been deprived of any specialized treatment and denied access to basic medical services such as pain relief medication, physiotherapy, or consultation with a specialist. https://tinyurl.com/csdaypju

Over 210 days have passed since the arrest of Hoda Mehreganfar 35 and her 66 year old father. The two political prisoners remain indefinite detention at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz-Iran without access to legal representation or a court hearing. Alarming reports indicate a serious decline in their physical health, compounded by a lack of proper medical care. Hoda an electronics engineer, has developed severe fungal infections and dermatological issues due to the unsanitary conditions in the women’s ward. The absence of adequate medical attention has placed her in critical condition. Her father, MohammadAli, a former political prisoner during the 1980s, is suffering from serious heart problems and requires urgent eye surgery. https://tinyurl.com/2n2s6rt9

Female political prisoners in the women’s ward of Tehran’s Evin Prison joined the nationwide campaign of “No to Executions Tuesdays,” again, on May 20, raising their voices in protest against the death penalty.

During this act of resistance, the prisoners chanted slogans such as:

“Evin women’s ward, united in solidarity, standing strong until executions are abolished,”

“We swear by the blood of our comrades, we will stand until the end,”

and “Political prisoners must be freed.”

This symbolic protest was further intensified by the fact that the participants were also on a hunger strike. The women’s ward of Evin Prison was among the first groups to join the “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign to end the death penalty and secure freedom for all prisoners of conscience. https://tinyurl.com/cvnx6ctu
