According to State run Fanous website March 4, the State Security Force of West Tehran raided a women's party and arrested a number of women. Mohsen Khancharli, West Tehran's SSF (State Security Force)Commander, said they had obtained the information about this party on the internet. They deployed female police forces and entered the party and arrested the organizers. According to Khancharli, a judicial case has been filed against the organizers and the place has been sealed. No information has been made available on the number women arrested or their identities.
In a related news a number of youths were arrested in a private party according to the deputy chief of the Staff of Enjoining Good in Sepidan who announced the news on March 2, 2017. He said his forces entered a villa in the gardens of Homashahr village in Sepidan in Fars province and arrested six young men and eight young women in a mixed-gender party.

Two political prisoners in Evin and Gohardasht prisons issued a message and congratulated women on the International Women's Day. In their joint message for March 8, Amir Amirgholi and Behnam Ebrahimzadeh pointed out as part: "...We, political prisoners, expect everyone to stand up to the anti-women laws, violence against women, and humiliation of women, and consider any attack on women as an attack on the whole society. Let us get together and turn March 8 into a day when we declare our protest to savagery and barbarism."

Fereshteh Arghavani, 52, was arrested and sentenced to one year in jail for contacting her brother who has lived abroad for the past 35 years.  Fereshteh who has children and grandchildren and very ill, presently is detained in a prison in the Tirkola village of Sari, capital of the northern province of Mazandaran.

Four Christians including two women were arrested by security forces in Tehran and Orumiyeh. The two women have been identified as Nana Badrian from Tajikistan and Anousheh (Veronica) Rezabakhsh. Nana was arrested on January 23, 2017, and taken to solitary confinement in Ward 209 of Evin Prison for interrogation. Anousheh Rezabakhsh and her son were arrested on February 20, 2017, and were taken to a detention center in Orumiyeh.
