The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran
announced on Saturday, July 18, that the Coronavirus fatalities in 346 cities of Iran had exceeded 72,700.
Hassan Rouhani admitted on July 18: “So far, 25 million Iranians have been infected with the Coronavirus, and we must expect that 30 to 35 million people will be infected with the virus … The number of hospitalizations in the future will be twice the number we had in the past 150 days.” He brazenly blamed the people again, saying, “The second wave of the outbreak is due to the fact that our wedding ceremonies follow their own form and length in time. It is the same in mourning ceremonies and in parties. The summer holidays follow a special ritual. And our social relations are special and not enough attention has been paid to this disease … The second wave is due to the fact that people no longer fear (the virus) and are returning to normal life and not abandoning the traditions that they should abandon.”

The annual gathering of the Iranian Resistance was held online on Friday, July 17, and attended by advocates of a free Iran, supporters of the Iranian Resistance, and Iranians who seek regime change in Iran. The online gathering connected Iranians at 30,000 locations in Iran, in Ashraf-3 in Albania as well as in more than 100 countries on 5 continents. This gathering, held online to the Coronavirus pandemic, was the largest gathering of its kind in support of a free Iran. In addition, in compliance with restrictions imposed due to Coronavirus pandemic, a large demonstration in Berlin was held and rallies and demonstrations by Iranians in various cities around the world also joined the gathering. Some 1,000 dignitaries, including political leaders, parliamentarians, cultural and religious figures participated in the gathering, supporting the Iranian people’s call for the overthrow of a religious dictatorship and Mrs. Maryam. The people and the Iranian Resistance are committed to building a democratic and free Iran. Our people must enjoy the right to be healthy, to have shelter, employment, to organize and form syndicates, to have autonomy of ethnic minorities, the right to equal participation in running the society’s affairs, gender equality and popular sovereignty, and an Iran where there will be no capital punishment. Reuters and Euro news reported of unrest in Behbahan. People and the youths clash with the regime forces. According to Net Blocks, the internet has been shut down in Khuzestan province. One of the detainees is Farzaneh Ansarifar, the sister of Farzad Ansarifar, one of the victims of the November 2019 uprising.

The PMOI, People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran reported on July 16 that Wednesday marked the beginning of the trial of four Tehran-linked terrorist, including a senior diplomat of the Iranian regime’s embassy in Vienna. Assadollah Assadi, the diplomat, and two of his cohorts are being tried for a bombing attempt in 2018, targeted at the Free Iran Rally, the annual convention of the Iranian resistance. Assadi has a long history of terrorist activities against the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). He was arrested in Germany on June 30, 2018, as he was making last-minute coordination on the foiled bombing plot. Two accomplices, Amir Sadouni and Nassimeh Nomani, were citizens of Belgium. Belgian authorities triggered investigations into the terrorist attempt last year. While the Iranian regime has a long history of carrying out terrorist attacks on foreign soil, this is the first time a diplomat in Europe has been put on trial for direct involvement in terrorism. “This shows that the regime does not spare any crime and expense to destroy the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/ PMOI) and the Iranian Resistance as the main threat to its existence,” wrote the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in a statement.
The preliminary hearing, which was attended by Iranian Resistance lawyers and other private plaintiffs, dealt with the indictment. The court formally agreed with the federal prosecutor’s request to prosecute Assadi and his accomplices on two counts of “attempted terrorist act with the aim of assassination” and “participation in a terrorist group.” Trial proceedings will continue. The regime’s attempts to derail the trial and release the arrested diplomat have so far failed, and has triggered infighting and disputes among regime officials in Tehran. “The clerical regime, outraged by the relocation of the MEK to Albania, terrified of the December 2017 and January 2018 uprisings, and concerned about the growing international standing of the National Council of Resistance and its President-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, attempted to assassinate Mrs. Rajavi and prominent American and European speakers attending the event,” the NCRI said, reminding that the clerical regime had planned another terrorist attack on the March 2018 Nowruz celebrations in Albania, in which Mrs. Rajavi and a group of foreign guests had attended. That attack too was foiled, and led to the expulsion of the regime’s ambassador and three other diplomats from Albania. “The attempt could have resulted in dozens of deaths,” Belgium’s La Libre wrote in its coverage of the trial. “The goal of the operation was to neutralize the 2018 gathering in Paris,” Belgium’s VRT News reported. “Germany extradited Assadi to our country despite objections by the Iranian regime. The fact that these four people have been in custody for more than two years shows that Belgian justice is taking this sensitive diplomatic issue seriously. An informed lawyer said, ‘The defendants can be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.’ “If these four people are sentenced, it will be a big disaster for the Iranian regime and will indicate that the regime wanted to carry out a serious operation against the rally of the Iranian opposition in Paris. “Spies using diplomatic cover isn’t new. But the fact that the Iranian regime is using diplomats for terrorist operations has no precedent in Europe.”

Seven series of documents of the Iranian regime’s National Emergency Organization have been disclosed so far by the Security and Counter terrorism Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The documents contain details about the men and women injured during the uprising in Iran in November 2019 who were transferred to hospitals by ambulance. The documents revealed by the NCRI are related to those injured between November 15 and 18, 2019, and indicate only a small part of the brutality of the clerical regime in cracking down on the protesters. Based on estimates of the Iranian Resistance, at least 1,500 persons were murdered by security forces in the November uprising. Later, Reuters cited the regime’s Interior Ministry officials who said 400 women were among those killed. The number of those arrested is estimated at 12,000, many of whom were taken to jail from hospital beds and without receiving complete treatment. The first series of documents contained information on six injured women and were published by the NCRI Women’s Committee in June.
