Iranian Communities’ Summit in Canada Marks the Anniversary of the 1979 Anti-monarchic Revolution
On Sat. Feb. 4, 2023, Canadian Lawmakers, Senior U.S. Personalities, and Former Canadian Government Officials Voice Support for Iran’s Resistance and the Nationwide Uprising on the Anniversary of Iran’s 1979 Anti-Monarchic Revolution during a summit in Toronto-Canada. The keynote speaker of this event is Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), who will address the audience online. The event and its speakers will shed light on the current situation in Iran and give policy recommendations vis-à-vis the Iranian regime to Canadian lawmakers and government. The Iranian regime poses a serious and ongoing threat to global security and stability. Former Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird, Canadian MP Judy Sgro, former Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Canadian MP Dave Epp, US. Senator Robert Torricelli, Amb. Lincoln Bloomfield Jr., former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Senator Leo Housakos, former Speaker of the Canadian Senate, Canadian MP Dan Muys, Canadian MP Anna Roberts, David Matas, human rights lawyer, and Tony Clement, former President of the Treasury Board, were among the speakers. Massoumeh Senobari was arrested on December 31, 2022, in Karaj and transferred to the city’s Fardis Prison (Kachouii). Her family is unaware of her condition and is worried about her. Massoumeh was born in 1988 in Tabriz and has a daughter. She had been sentenced to 8 years in prison on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “insulting” the regime's supreme leader and was imprisoned in the women’s ward of the Central Prison of Tabriz.On January 30, the Iranian regime’s Judiciary informed the political prisoners Zahra Safaei and her daughter Parastoo Moini that they would be banished to Qom prison. They are currently detained in Evin Prison. Security forces arrested political prisoners Zahra Safaei and Parastoo Moini on February 24, 2020, and transferred them to the solitary cells of Ward 209 of Evin Prison. According to a verdict on January 23, 2021, political prisoners Zahra Safaei, her daughter, Parastoo Moini, and her son, Mohammad Masoud Moini, were sentenced to eight years, six years, and six years of imprisonment, respectively. http://surl.li/erlgu******
Branch 29 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran convened on January 30, examining the charges against student activist Niloufar Mirzaii. Mirzaii has been detained for three months. Her trial was held in the absence of a lawyer. The presiding sharia judge rejected granting her a temporary leave on bail. Student activist Niloufar Mirzaii is a 2nd-year graphic arts student at Tehran’s Al-Zahra University.Fatemeh Rahmati, 19, a University student of accounting in Abadan, was kidnapped by armed individuals on January 14. She had been on her way to university in the Sadeh area of Abadan City. Fatemeh’s violent abduction included being dragged on the ground. According to eyewitnesses, Fatemeh was screaming throughout the arrest. She was transferred to Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.
Sara Javidan, an 18-year-old from Karaj, was arrested on the street on December 24, 2022. Thus far, there is no information about her whereabouts, and her family is very worried. Taraneh Zolabi, a third-semester medical student at Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, was also kidnapped in the final days of November and is still in captivity.
Sahar Berlouii was arrested by security forces at her home on November 23, 2022, in connection with the nationwide protests. Security forces searched her house and seized her mobile phone and a laptop. Sahar Berlouii, 34, a resident of Ekbatan, Tehran, is still in custody, and it is unclear when she will be released. http://surl.li/erlgq
