IRAN NEWS))))))

On Wed. June 19, Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs, announced that the Government of Canada has designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity under the Criminal Code, effective immediately. This move is a significant step in Canada’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and hold the Iranian regime accountable for its actions. Minister LeBlanc stated that the IRGC has been found to have knowingly engaged in terrorist activities, either directly or in collaboration with other terrorist organizations. “Listing the IRGC, sends a strong message that Canada will use all tools at its disposal to combat the terrorist activity of the IRGC,” LeBlanc emphasized. As a result of this listing, Canadian financial institutions are now required to freeze any assets owned or controlled by the IRGC. Additionally, it is a criminal offense for anyone in Canada or Canadian citizens abroad to knowingly deal with property owned or controlled by a terrorist group. This designation aims to disrupt the IRGC’s financial networks and prevent any support from sympathizers within Canada. The IRGC’s inclusion in the terrorist list will aid Canadian security, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies in combating terrorism, including facilitating the prosecution of terrorism-related charges. This mechanism is a crucial component in countering terrorist financing and preventing the provision of assistance to terrorist organizations from within Canada. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the president-elect of the Iranian resistance NCRI, commended Canada for listing the IRGC saying it deservs congratulations to the parliament and government of Canada. She added: The Iranian Resistance has been advocating for this designation for years. This measure is essential in response to four decades of suppression, terrorism, and warmongering by the regime. The people of Iran, along with majorities in 28 parliaments worldwide, demand that the regime's leaders be held accountable for executions, massacres, genocide, crimes against humanity, the suppression of women, and the oppression of national minorities in Iran.

It's been more than two decades that the Iranian supporters of the NCRI-National Council of Resistance of Iran- have been asking Canada to black list IRGC. US black listed IRGC in April 2019. https://tinyurl.com/5f58cwzy

On Tuesday, June 18, agents raided the home of Maryam Mehrabi, the sister of Mahmoud Mehrabi, a political prisoner who has been sentenced to death in Isfahan, central Iran. During the raid, Maryam Mehrabi was detained along with her two minor children, Setareh and Sogol Bakhtiarvand, 11 and 8. The intelligence agents seized all phones and electronic devices in the house, including mobile phones, computers, and laptops. Maryam Mehrabi had been actively protesting her brother’s death sentence. She had publicly announced that if her brother’s sentence was not overturned, she would resort to self-immolation in front of the office of the Friday Prayer Leader in Mubarakeh, Isfahan. The Mizan news agency, affiliated with the Iranian Judiciary, further stated that Maryam Mehrabi was arrested for “trying to incite the people.” She has been imprisoned after being arraigned for her charges and on a temporary detention order. However, the Mizan news agency rejected the reports regarding the details of Ms. Mehrabi’s arrest, claiming that the arrest of this citizen living in Isfahan along with her children “is not true.” https://tinyurl.com/4utd34zx
