Over 209,200 people have died of the Covid-19 in 478 cities across Iran, according to reports tallied daily by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Sunday , January 31.

Civil activist Saba Kord Afshari who is presently incarcerated in the notorious Qarchak Prison has been violently moved from Ward 8 to Ward 6 where inmates convicted of violent crimes are detained. Saba is serving a 24-year sentence for protesting the mandatory Hijab enforced on Iranian women by the ruling mullahs. Despite passage of 50 days since the arrest and detention of Nazanin Mohammad-Nejad, she is still held in solitary confinement at Ward 2A of Evin Prison with uncertain status in Iran. The Intelligence agents arrested her at her home in Tehran on December 8, 2020. Ms. Mohammad-Nejad, 32, is a master’s student of Russian language at Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabaii University. There is no information available on the charges for which she has been detained. Women’s rights activist Tahmineh Mofidi continues to be detained in Ward 2A of Evin Prison without standing trial and under uncertain status as well. She is under interrogation by the IRGC Intelligence who arrested her at home in Tehran on January 2, 2021. There is no information on the reason(s) she has been arrested and detained for. In the meantime the Revolutionary Court of Tehran sentenced Najmeh Mir-Akhorli to five years in prison. This 61 year old woman was informed of her sentence on January 6, 2021 with charges of “membership in the illegal group of People’s Fedayeen Organization (minority).” This is while this group has not had any activities in Iran for many years. The branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran convened on January 20, and sentenced Shakila Monfared to six years in prison. She is charged with “propaganda against the state”, “assembly and collusion against national security”, “insulting the sanctities”, as well as insulting the regime’s leader and the founder of the clerical regime. https://tinyurl.com/yxonmz58

Political prisoner Golrokh Iraee has been banished to the Prison of Amol, in Mazandaran Province, north Iran, after returning to Qarchak Prison. She was under interrogation by the Intelligence of the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for 43 days at Ward 2A of Evin Prison in Tehran. Golrokh Iraee and her husband, Arash Sadeqi, were arrested at their home on October 24, 2016. Without receiving a written summon, they were taken to Evin Prison. She was sentenced to one year in prison for “propaganda against the state” and five years for “insulting the sanctities” through writing an unpublished story against stoning. https://tinyurl.com/y6g3pcsa

Political prisoner Fatemeh Mosanna remains deprived of urgent medical treatment for more than five months. Fatemeh 53, has been suffering from intestinal bleeding since mid-August. Evin Prison authorities have prevented her from being examined by the forensics office and granted medical leave. Doctors say she is not physically fit to serve her prison sentence. She suffers from intestinal colitis and severe migraine headaches. Fatemeh Mosanna and her husband, Hassan Sadeqi, and her two children were arrested on January 28, 2013 as they were holding a memorial ceremony for Mr. Sadeqi’s father who was a member of the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and had just passed away. Their house was sealed, her daughter detained for three days and her underage son was detained and interrogated for about 1.5 months.
