Over 215,700 people have died of Covid-19 in 480 cities across Iran, according to reports tallied daily by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Thursday, February 14.

Execution of a young woman in the Prison of Ardabil, northwestern Iran, marks the execution of the 113th woman during Rouhani’s tenure. The unidentified 23 year old woman, was executed at dawn on Monday, February 8. She had been imprisoned since five years ago. There are 50 death-row inmates in the Prison of Ardabil.

After completion of four months of interrogation by the IRGC Intelligence at Ward 2A of Evin, she has been finally release from this notorious ward and sent to Qarchak. Somayyeh Kargar has graduated in philosophy from the University of Tabriz. She suffers from a rare eye disease and her eyesight has seriously weakened. She has been deprived of access to medical treatment and access to her medication. Her family have been told that she is charged with internet crimes.

The Iranian regime’s Judiciary issued its verdict of 20 years of imprisonment for a mother and her 2 children and found them guilty of supporting the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). On January 23, political prisoner Zahra Safaei, her daughter, political prisoner Parastoo Mo’ini, and her son, MohammadMassoud Mo’ini were sentenced respectively to 8, 6 and 6 years’ imprisonment. The mother and her children are charged with “assembly and collusion to act against national security through communicating with the PMOI,” “advancing the PMOI objectives,” and “participating in PMOI meetings.” They are also charged with “propaganda activities against the state by writing slogans (on the walls), reading out statements and posting banners in public.”

According to reports on Wednesday, February 10, political prisoner Massoumeh Senobari has developed a cancerous mass in her breast because of vicious tortures under interrogation. She is having severe pain in the breast area. Some time ago, a medical team which made rounds in the Central Prison of Tabriz told Ms. Senobari that she urgently needed to be examined by ultrasound and receive treatment, accordingly. Prison authorities initially told her to wait but did not take any action. After Ms. Senobari made repeated inquiries about her medical examination, they told her that she should personally pay for the expenses. Despite financial problems, her family collected and provided the money, but again the authorities did not allow medical examination and treatment of Massoumeh Senobari despite cancer. Two female activists in Tehran and Sanandaj received a total of 10 years’ imprisonment for their activities promoting human rights in Iran. Faranak Jamshidi and Soha Mortezaii are charged for exercising their fundamental right to freedom of expression. Conservationist Faranak Jamshidi was sentenced to 4 years in prison on the charge of “membership” in a Kurdish opposition group.
