Arghavan Fallahi and Parvin Mirasan detained in limbo after 15 months. Three political prisoners affiliated with the PMOI, namely Arghavan Fallahi, Parvin Mirasan, and Nasim Gholami Simiyari, are currently detained in a state of limbo at the women’s ward of Evin Prison. Arghavan Fallahi and Parvin Mirasan have been detained in limbo for 15 months since their arrest. They were apprehended along with Arghavan Fallahi’s father and brother by security forces on November 4, 2022 during protests in Isfahan, central Iran. http://tinyurl.com/2kfk3ybh

A cohort of female political prisoners, supporting the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), went on a hunger strike on Tuesday, February 13, within the confines of the women’s ward in Evin Prison. Their objective was to denounce the escalating frequency of executions in Iran. The hunger strikes against the death penalty, aimed at condemning the imposition of the death penalty, was first launched on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, by death-row inmates at Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, following the executions of detained protesters Mohammad Ghobadloo and Farhad Salimi. http://tinyurl.com/35963kj3

Political prisoner Raheleh Rahemipour, 72 years old detained in the women’s ward of Evin prison, is deprived of proper medical care. She suffers from many illnesses and is detained despite the forensic doctor confirming that she cannot tolerate imprisonment. Mrs. Rahemipour is in prison for demanding answers on the forced disappearance of her brother and niece who were detained during the 1980s. Her brother Hossein Rahemipour, a dentist, was arrested along with his pregnant wife in 1983. His daughter Golrou was born in Evin Prison. When she was 15 days old, Golrou was separated from her mother for supposed medical care and was not returned to her. In April 1984, the authorities informed the Rahemipour family that Golrou had passed away, without showing her death certificate or grave. In September 1984, they informed the family by phone that Hossein Rahemipour was executed during the mass executions of political prisoners. Two teenage girls from Qazvin have disappeared since January 31, and the city authorities have declared that they are unable to find the girls. Ayda Morad Behrouzi, 13, and her classmate, Hasti Mohammad Hosseini, left home for school at 12 noon on January 31, but have not returned home. Souri Babaei Chegini, Ayda's mother is a political prisoner detained since July for defying the compulsory Hijab code. While in detention, the authorities issued another 7 month sentence for her. Mrs. Babaei was released from prison for ten days on Tuesday, February 13, to look for her daughter. Armita Pavir, a student of cellular and molecular biology, was sentenced to a total of 22 months and 17 days in prison on charges of “spreading propaganda against the state”, and “insulting the leadership and authorities”, by the Azarshahr Revolutionary Court in northeastern Iran. Armita Pavir was arrested on September 21, 2023, and is currently in the Central Prison of Tabriz under mental torture and severe restrictions. She has denied the charges brought against her but has refused to express remorse to receive amnesty. Armita Pavir went on a dry hunger strike, refusing to eat food and liquids on January 27. She started drinking liquids, refusing to eat food on February 1.
