Fariba Kamalabadi and Mahvash Sabet, two leaders of the Baha’i community in Iran, were arrested for the second time on July 31, 2022. Agents of security services went to their houses in Tehran and took them to an undisclosed location. Relatives of Fariba Kamalabadi and Mahvash Sabet confirmed the news of their arrests. Agents of the Ministry of Intelligence attacked Baha’i homes in 9 cities, including Tehran, Karaj, Qazvin, Shiraz, Mashhad, Sari, Gonbad, and Gorgan. They arrested dozens of Baha’i citizens, including women. On August 2, 2022, Mehboubeh Misaghian, a Baha’i woman living in Yazd, was transferred to Yazd Prison to serve her time in prison. Farangis Mazloum jailed in Evin prison in Tehran-Iran – Due to pressures from the Intelligence Ministry, has been transferred to Evin Prison to serve her sentence. Farangis Mazloum is the mother of former political prisoner Soheil Arabi. Mrs. Farangis Mazloum suffers from severe health problems, including a heart condition and severe leg pain. News from the notorious Evin Prison indicates a renewed Coronavirus outbreak in the women’s ward. An increasing number of prisoners are contracting the virus, including Parastoo Moini and Fatemeh Mosanna, who have been infected. Fourteen female political prisoners detained in Qarchak Prison were transferred to Evin Prison on July 20. Young political prisoner Parastoo Moini was among the women transferred to Evin Prison. She has now contracted the Coronavirus. No medical care against the Coronavirus is provided for the detainees in this ward. Political prisoner Soada Khadirzadeh and her baby girl Ala are in dire health conditions in the Central Prison of Urmia in Iran. Soada has suffered bleeding in recent days and is in dire health. However, the Central Prison of Urmia authorities have not transferred her to any medical center. She was returned to prison only 10 hours after she underwent a C-section to deliver her baby girl less than 40 days ago. Her daughter, Ala, suffers from an unknown allergy and severe diarrhea due to the high heat and the lack of air conditioning facilities inside the women’s ward. Soada Khadirzadeh spent eight months of her pregnancy in prison. Soada cannot breastfeed her little girl because prison authorities have not provided her with proper nutrition, especially in the post-pregnancy period. She also experienced various psychological pressures in prison and under interrogation.
