Fearing the outbreak of protests on the eve of the second anniversary of the November 2019 uprising, the clerical regime has arrested and imprisoned a number of supporters of the main Iranian opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Susan Rezaiipour hanged in Qazvin; the 122nd woman executed since 2013. Susan Rezaiipour was hanged in the Central Prison of Qazvin at dawn on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Susan Rezaiipour is among the women who are victims of forced early marriages and domestic violence. She acted in self-defense when she murdered her husband six years ago. Susan Rezaiipour was married by force to her cousin, whom she did not love. Soheila Abedi, 32, a victim of early marriage, is sentenced to death for murdering her husband in 2015. Soheila Abedi was married at age 15 and presently is detained in the Reform and Rehabilitation Center (women’s ward) of the Prison of Sanandaj. She is told that if she cannot obtain the consent of the victim’s family, she will be executed in a month. Tehran’s Revolutionary Court issued a ruling according to which Mahboubeh Farahzadi is fined. Her mobile phone will be confiscated and she is banned from participating in gatherings and meetings for two years. The court convened on Tuesday, October 12, to examine the charges leveled against Mrs. Farahzadi, a teachers’ rights activist and a member of the Voice of Iranian Women Association (Neda-ye Zanan-e Iran). Mrs. Farahzadi was informed of the ruling on October 18. She must pay 1.5 million Tomans in cash. Imprisoned and retired teacher and mother of 6 children Nosrat Beheshti has started a hunger strike in Vakilabad Prison of Mashhad since October 24, in protest of her temporary detention and unacceptable charges leveled against her. She has declared that she has also stopped talking until her demands are met. She said Vakilabad prison authorities are responsible for her life. She demands to be released and exonerated from all charges against her. She was arrested on Aug. 4, 2021. Another female political prisoner has gone on a hunger strike since October 18, 2021. Mahin Akbari was among the supporters of the Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) who were arrested and imprisoned in Rasht North of Iran in September. Political prisoner Nejat Anvar-Hamidi is at imminent risk of blindness in Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz-Iran. She is presently in a severe physical condition and bleeding from both eyes. On the orders of the Ministry of Intelligence, prison authorities prevent Ms. Anvar-Hamidi from receiving medical treatment even when there is an imminent risk of blindness for her. She had previously contracted the Covid-19 during her detention. Nejat Anvar-Hamidi, 63, is a supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). She was arrested for supporting the organization in March 2019 and transferred to Sepidar Prison.
