After so many days of foot-dragging and leaking conflicting reports, the Iranian regime finally announced the death of Armita Geravand, Iran’s beloved daughter. The authorities refused to hand over Armita’s body to her family instead they forced the family to bury their daughter in Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Tehran. The two former political prisoners were arrested on Monday, August 21, 2023, on the eve of the anniversary of the Iran Uprising on September 16, 2022. They were immediately transferred to the Intelligence Ministry Ward 209 of Evin Prison. Marzieh Farsi suffers from cancer, and she does not have access to her medications while in detention. Born on May 10, 1994, Forough Taghipour graduated in accounting with a bachelor’s degree. Ms. Taghipour and her mother were arrested on February 24, 2020. Niloufar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi have been imprisoned for more than one year for reporting the truth. They spent a few months in the notorious Qarchak Prison in Iran and were relocated to Evin Prison on May 1. The 15th Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran sentenced Niloufar Hamedi to 13 years and Elaheh Mohammadi to 12 years in jail. The notorious judge Salavati issued the verdicts.
