The National Council of Resistance of Iran NCRI stated about the low turnout of the sham Iran Parliament election, On March 1, 2024, Iran witnessed its largest state election boycott to date. After several months-long efforts, Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the regime, and his cohorts had struggled intensely to project a false sense of legitimacy onto the world stage but recent reports and nationwide field surveys unveil that they have encountered a resounding defeat. Labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi has been in custody for over three months since she was arrested. Her case is in limbo, and she is detained in the Lakan Prison of Rasht in Iran. Ms. Mohammadi had been banished to the Central Prison of Sanandaj, but she has been recently returned to Lakan Prison. She has been in custody for 95 days and is still deprived of calling her family or receiving visits from them. The authorities have refused to give any transparent answers to Ms. Mohammadi’s husband regarding her case. There is still no information available on the reasons for her arrest and the charges levelled against her. Political prisoner Narges Mansouri 46 years old and mother a 12 year old child, has been sentenced to three years of prison on charges leveled against her during her detention. This is the sixth case filed against Ms. Mansouri. She is a member of the Syndicate of the workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company. Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court sentenced her to five years in prison on the charge of “assembly and collusion against national security” and to one year in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the state” in November 2019. Narges Mansouri was initially arrested in mid-April 2022 to serve her time in prison but was released on a 3-billion-Toman bail in May. Zeinab Jalalian, a Kurdish woman, has spent 16 years in prison in Iran and is now entering her 17th year of imprisonment. She is the longest-held and only female political prisoner with a life sentence in Iran. During her imprisonment, she was tortured and deprived of her right to leave, even for medical treatment. She has also been illegally and violently moved between different prisons. Zeinab Jalalian was arrested in Kermanshah on February 26, 2008 and is currently being held in Yazd prison. Despite her deteriorating health condition, she has been deprived of necessary medical care, family visits, and communication.
